Are dogs socially selective?
Absolutely! Just like humans, dogs can be socially selective when it comes to choosing their friends.
While some pups are total social butterflies, others prefer to form deeper bonds with just a few pups, or even just keep to their Humans as their besties.

Your pup needs exercise … but not just the physical kind.
Keeping your pup happy and healthy isn’t all about long walks or play sessions in the yard—mental exercise is just as important (and just as tiring!).
Engaging your dog’s brain is an incredible way to burn off energy, reduce stress, and keep them sharp. It’s a win-win for both you and your pup!
→ Mental stimulation can be just as effective as physical activity when it comes to keeping your dog balanced and well-behaved.
A mentally engaged dog is less likely to get bored, which means fewer chewed-up shoes and restless antics. Think of it as a full-body workout for their brain, and they’ll thank you for it!
So, how can you challenge their minds?
- Puzzle Toys & Feeders
Turn dinner time into a game by using a puzzle feeder or treat-dispensing toy. It makes eating fun and stimulating!
- Scent Work Games
Hide treats around the house or yard and let your pup’s nose do the work. Bonus points for watching their tail wag while they search!
- Training New Tricks
Spend a few minutes each day teaching a new command or trick—like “high five” or “spin.” Dogs love learning, and it’s a great bonding experience.
- Interactive Play
Games like tug-of-war or fetch with a twist (like having them wait or search for the ball) add a mental layer to classic activities.
Mental stimulation is a great addition to your dog’s routine every day. And trust us, a mentally engaged pup is a calmer, happier, and more content companion.
So next time your dog’s full of energy, don’t just reach for the leash, reach for their favorite puzzle or a handful of treats to get their mind moving!

Meet Walter Waffles T. Fudgie Goblin (aka Snorts!)
Walter is undoubtedly the heart and soul of his family. His family calls him a loyal companion, a goofy entertainer, and even an unexpected athlete, all while being the most intuitive emotional support dog they could have hoped for.
Walter came into his family’s life during a tough time. One of his humans has been battling a chronic neurological disorder, and Walter has been there every step of the way. When bad days hit, Walter knows just what to do — whether it’s staying close, licking away tears, or simply being a comforting presence.
In addition to being a super pup –he’s also a total goofball! He loves getting pulled in his pink sled (yes, even when there’s no snow), playing frisbee and fetch (and yes, he always brings it back like a pro), and dressing up in hats and glasses like he’s about to hit the runway. Oh, and fireworks? Not a problem, this guy doesn’t even flinch!
When Walter’s not being a model pup, he’s bringing out the playful side of his best buddy Herman, the family’s serious border collie mix. And while he may not love swimming, he’s happy to boat around Puget Sound with his family or ride in a shopping cart like the king he is.
Walter’s family says he’s the easiest puppy they’ve ever raised, thanks to Ara’s puppy curriculum. From his early days with Divine Pups to becoming the heart of his home, Walter has proven that love, loyalty, and a little humor can brighten even the toughest times!
